Whew, finally made it home!!! We got lucky and were upgraded to 1st Class on our leg from Paris to Dulles....and we had the pods. Talk about make it easy to sleep when you can fully recline!!! Okay, so this is a horrible picture of me, but you get the idea.
Thank goodness I was able to sleep because we got stuck in Washington. Our 5:30 flight got cancelled so they rebooked us on a 9:30 pm flight. Then that flight was delayed. We decided that it was in our best interest just to get a room Saturday night and take the first flight home Sunday morning. That worked out well although poor Dick had to leave Monday morning...again!!! So, here I am, glad to be home but still feeling jet lagged. I feel good until about 4 in the afternoon then I start to lag. Last night I made it all the way to 8:00 pm then I crashed. Of course, I was then awake at 4:30 this morning. I managed to go back to sleep but only until 6:00 a.m. At that point, it was just easier to get up. I'm enjoying getting back into my routine. There's nothing I love more than luxuriating over my coffee, eggs and newspaper in the morning. It's the #1 thing I love about not working.
This afternoon I'm splurging and going for a 2 hour (yes.....120 minutes) hot stone massage. I bet that makes me sleep even better.
Well, the holidays and vacation are over and I am very excited about 2008. I normally don't make many resolutions but this year I have a few things on my plate. First is the new puppy, Kimi. She's coming home with us on Saturday and I am so excited. The house is as puppy proofed as it's gonna be for now. I am off to Las Vegas in January to work with Sally at the furniture mart. Wish me luck that I don't twist any more body parts!!!
We are off to Italy in May with Sally and our North Carolina friends. We are all on pre-Italy diets right now so stay tuned for updates!!!! Here's one of them (who will remain anonymous) and his motivating self portrait!!!
After Italy, Jason & Regina (our Paris partners) are getting hitched in Key West, Florida. I'm sure a good time will be had by all.
I should throw in a few resolutions while I'm at it:
1. Recycle - if nothing else, at least my huge stack of newspapers (I've even requested a recycle bin so I'm making progress.
2. Read more - my goal is one book per week but I don't really think that's doable. So, my actual goal will be 2 per month. And, I want to keep track of them since the more I read, the less I remember what I already read.
3. "Do" More - one of the reasons I quit working was to spend more time with friends, working on crafts, doing fun stuff. In reality, I spent alot of time just hanging out at home so this year, before I go back to work, I'd like to do more of the stuff I quit my job to do: read, golf, spend time outside, spend time with friends, and be productive.
4. Drink less wine - it can become too much of a habit and that I don't like. I love a good glass of Beaujolais at night and in the summer a nice Sauvignon Blanc always is tasty, but I think it's good to give your body a break sometimes and this will be mine.
5. Lose a few pounds before Italy - I'm back on low-carb South Beach which has worked for me in the past...I'll keep you posted. It's usually pretty easy for me if I'm not eating out.
6. Exercise more - I'm not planning on running any marathons this year, especially since my twisted ankle still isn't healed, but I'd like to at least get to the gym to do SOMETHING 5 times a week!!!
Okay, now it's down in writing so we'll see how it goes!!!! Happy New Year!!!
